II Sigulda Blues Festival
Blues In Latvia Is Also Blues!

The 2nd Sigulda Blues Festival will be held at Sigulda Castle on July 23, 2011. This year the event comprises the 1st National Blues Contest and the established artists concerts.

Blues has withstood the test of time. Blues is emotion that captivates with its truthfulness. Blues is energy that charges every listener irrespective of age, prosperity and way of life. That's the way it is in the world, and that's the way it is in Latvia. The blues in Latvia has existed modestly for many years without superstardom. Now it hits the big stage! We are proud to have our own open air blues event under the skies with a big stage, plenty of beer, to be sure, and of course, the blues at the forefront!

Event: 1-day open air Festival at Sigulda Medieval Castle. Address: Pils iela 16, Sigulda, Latvia, LV2150.

Hours: Saturday, July 23, 2011. Doors open from 13:00. Event commences at 14:00. Curfew at 01:00.

Artists: Ainars Pūpols & pBlues | Fortress | Gints Zilinskis Trio | Hot Dogs & Jānis Vanadziņš | Louie Fontaine & Starlight Searchers | Mitrokhin's Master Band | Mirta & Hot Acoustics + Electrics | The Blues Gang | The Twins Peek. The closing act will be Chicago blues diva and frottoir virtuoso Peaches Staten with Latvian Blues Band.

Contest: The Festival commences with the I Latvian Blues Contest Finals. The winner will represent Latvia in the European Blues Challenge 2012.

Finalists: 4 Men Band | Chehols | D11 Blues Band | Strong Mint.

Tickets: Ticket prices (limited quantity) until May 31 - Ls 4,99 (~7 EUR).
Ticket prices from June 1 till July 22 - Ls 6,99 (~10 EUR).
On the day of the event ticket will cost Ls 10,- (~15 EUR). Tickets are available in "Bilesu serviss" sales points and online at www.bilesuserviss.lv
Children up to age 10 – admission is free.

People with special needs kept in mind – special parking spots and concert seating, free entrance for assistants.

Program: Latvian Blues Contest Finals: 14:00 - 16:00. Each participant act will perform 20 minutes. Festival concerts: 16:00 - 01:00. Duration of each show will be around 40 - 60 minutes. Celebrating Robert Johnson's 100th Anniversary EPSON Blues Movie hall will show a selection of documentaries dedicated to the preeminent bluesman of all times. Tour du Monde music shop will sell blues & jazz CDs and DVDs at a reasonable price. Vinyl lovers will have a chance to discover treasures at Vinila Valdis' Vinylshop. A Festival merchandise booth as well as several cafes will be glad to serve the visitors.

Right after the event at 01:30 there will be the Blues Train departing from Sigulda Railway station to Riga Central. Selected blues artists will do acoustic jam to shorten the trip to Riga.

Filming and photography: There are no restrictions to capture the event for non-commercial use on condition that your activity will not disturb the audience. Professionals are advised to contact the promoters in advance.

Update: We regret to inform that due to technical issues at the venue, we decided to cancel the previously announced blues photography exhibition.
